Creating Our Masterpiece

Hello everyone..

Today, 19th of April 2015 is officially our fourth day having fun with these bunch of kids at Library of Taman Tun Dr. Ismail.

I was so excited because as was told by our leader a day before, the first activity that we will do today is COLOURING TIME. wehuuuuuu~~~ I really can't recall when was the last time I participated in any colouring contest or having fun colouring some pictures. For sure, colouring with these adorable kids really brought back such a wonderful childhood memories of mine and not to forget my fellow teammates.

We provided them with the colouring sheets, a picture of three major races in Malaysia standing proudly with a background of KLCC tower. We purposely picked these picture to enhance a very strong bond and 1 Malaysia spirit to these children. They really enjoyed themselves. We also took these opportunity to do some colouring too and walahhhh, the result was so incredible haha. We called it as our masterpiece. Proudest moment I must say haha.

Our masterpiece

In the evening, we conducted a puzzle session with the children. The puzzle is a quite simple one and very suitable for the children below 10 years old. We guided the children and taught them happily some of the tricks to finish up the puzzle in a very fast and quick way. Sometimes, we also have a very hard time to figure out which is which and the kids were the one who help us haha. I really had a very fun and refreshing time with these children.

After a very exciting puzzle session, it was a time to do some cleaning. Later at 5, we all packed our belongings and head back to UM. Safe and sound.

Another tiring day I must say, but I was so grateful to gain this privileged to enjoy and doing some fun and knowledgeable activities with these cute, energetic and adorable children. I was really glad and happy as everything run smoothly as we planned and all the kids had a very good and quality time with all of us. =) Really looking forward for another day with these children.

A Day Of Laughter And Fun

And so today is 18th April (Saturday), the third day of our social engagement at Library of Taman TunDr. Ismail. It is a special day because for the very first time we started our story telling today.
Although we are quite lack of confidence at the beginning, but throughout the process, many parents joined us and gave us support. Anyway, we actually learnt many from them because they are the one that have more experience in telling stories to children. It is truly a great time for us and the children sharing opinion about the stories.

Right after the story telling session, here comes the dancing session. We taught the children two simple dance, Gummy Bear and Chicken Dance. I have to admit I’m really not good in dancing, those kids dance better than me, haha~

In the origami session today, we taught them flower and butterfly. As usual, parents join us to learn origami together with their children. Looking at them learning new things together harmoniously, I always have a special feeling in my heart that we are now doing exactly the right thing.

And so we ended our meaningful day at 5pm. Sometimes, looking at those energetic kids, I feel like I’m not that young anymore cause it is quite tiring spending whole day with them. Although it is tiring but I really enjoy these days doing meaningful activities with children. Looking forward for tomorrow’s activity ~

Time Machine ~ Back to Childhood @ Library Taman Tun Dr Ismail

12th April 2015 (Sunday) - Library Taman Tun Dr Ismail

It was a great Sunday morning which was different from the other Sunday. Usually Sunday gives people a lazy feel that we all prefer to lay on our bed and enjoy the rest of our day with a slow pace. But today, it was different because we were going to meet a bunch of active children in the library. ((feeling excited!!! XD

After we reached the library at around 10am, we started to clean up our work place and prepare the materials that we needed for our origami session. After awhile, story telling session by another instructor has started and we also joined the session to bring ourselves back to child hood time. Surprisingly, those kids were awesome. They were very active and the story telling session was wonderful. They were out of our expectation, at first we thought that they will be like very quite and not responsive. BUT we were totally wrong!!

After the story telling session, they came over and joined us with our origami session. In this session, we taught them 'RABBIT' and 'FROG'. They were really enjoy in this session and their parents were joining us also.

Origami is always the best way to being the family together as it is suitable from children and even adults and old people.
Sweet sweet family time (Awwww~ lovely moment <3)
The feeling was really awesome when you were doing something which can bring the family members together. That harmony feeling was really great. <3

Origami done by the children~~ (Look!!! It's WABBIT) ^^

WOW!!! You're really professional in drawing~
There was a lunch break after the origami session. Right after the lunch, there came our 'Drawing Master' to give a drawing lesson to the children. The children were taught how to draw RABBIT, FROG and BUTTERFLY. The children learnt how to draw those animals step by step and finally following by colouring session.

Meet this girl named AMY~ Cute girl XD
Ha!!! See what were you guys doing~ Curi tulang ke??
No lah~ They were learning how to draw also. ^^
Hmmmm~~~ Wondering what is this? An evil potato monster? @_@
Presenting to you!!! My master piece XD
Why the butterfly so huge arh? Genetic transformation?
This one only MASTER PIECE, okay??

Finally, it came to the end of the wonderful day. It was really a great day to spend with those kids. I sure will miss those kids. They really brought a lot of joy to us instead of us bringing the joy to them. The experience was AWESOME! That's what I can say to the kids. I sure will remember them, especially Javier, the cute kid, and also Amy, a brilliant, pretty girl. Hope to meet you again.

This picture is in my mind all the time after the social engagement session with those children. Actually the main purpose of social engagement is to let us engage with the society and bring joy to them. However, those kids in the library had bring us back to our childhood time. It was just like riding on the time machine.

When we were still a child, we always think to grow up faster so that we can do something that we cannot do when we are still underage. But when we grow up, we will always thinking to go back to our childhood time because those moment is the happiest moment in our lifetime. Sometimes, human is always contradiction. Why can't our life be easier?

Come on, peeps! Enjoy your life to the max.
Do everything without any regret. Less stress and you will be happier. ^^

Clean Up the Library

It was the day that i was waiting. Although our plan not involving kid today, it still was an exciting day for me because we able to sit and clean the library. It was an honour for me as I was a librarian for 5 years during my high school.

We reach at 9.45 am and start to set up the facilities in activity room. After that, we clean the store room. honestly, the store quiet messy but with full of determination, we clean it. It seems not much to clean but as we moved the box. Phew! Let sweat!

It takes a few hour to clean it, arrange recycle paper, And i found reading quote! its remind me during my school time, i like to read quote.

Meaningful quotes, I like it!

We were covering the windows in the stored room
by using Mahjung paper

We were classifying the stuff in the store room

The cleaning activities was break at 1 to 2, and continue back until 4.
After that, we did some discussion for tomorrow event. Although not much activities was done, it was fun day! i feel more close with my teammate!

We are arranging the chairs in the activity room
for preparation of the next day activity

Dancing training
I started to fell the sense of belonging among my teammates

Here We Are... Library Taman Tun Dr. Ismail

So the day finally coming!! We are planning to have a short visit to library TTDI today for some discussion with the person in charge of the library. By using Ella's car, we depart from kk1 bus stop at 2.00 p.m. sharp.

However, we got only one car, so we had to move in twice. Fortunately, credit to the technology of GPS, all the members reach our destination safely at 2.30pm without much of time wasting.

Once we reached, we received the warmest welcome and greeting from the person in charge--------EN. KHAIRUL. He took about 15 minutes to bring us to visit each place in the library and explain the rules, history & events to us.Wow!! this place is really a good place, it has all kind of books for children and even for teenagers and adults. Besides, there is a cafe and a hall beside the library. It should be called a community hall instead of library. LOLLLL

After that, we continue to do self introduction and then started to discuss activities for the next day. We found out that there are some tools in store so we try to utilize it in our activities. Once all of us achieve consensus, we decided to leave because the library close at 5pm. Again, we took twice for 2 batch to return to UM. Unfortunately for this time, there is a serious traffic jam  on the highway of TTDI. At the end, all the member reached UM at 7.00pm.

Hmmm, a simple visit to the venue its already make me so excited, I cant wait for Tomorrow coming. Kids, see u guys tomorrow ^0^
